Eames Skincare Line by Anh Pham

The name Eames is synonymous with modern design. Best known for their mid-century modern furniture, Charles and Ray Eames provided new ways of looking at the world, and put fun and vitality back into work. If the Eames Office had a skincare line, BFA student Anh Pham imagines it would look something like this.

“Overall, I wanted to capture the essence of Eames and their design philosophy, fun, and energy,” says Anh. His conceptual design of Eames Natural Skin Care was developed in Tom McNulty’s Package Design 3, in which students are instructed to create a fictional line of skincare products for a company that does not already have one. Anh chose the Eames Office, dedicated to communicating, preserving and extending the work of Charles and Ray Eames. “Charles and Ray’s work was the result of a way of looking at the world—a design philosophy and process that is worth sharing in many different dimensions,” Anh said.

“As my exploration continued, my concept started to revolve around their Plywood Molded Elephant, patterns, and other modern toys,” says Anh. “I found the elephant to be the most unique, playful, and universally fun. It speaks to a broad audience of all ages, whether or not they know about Charles and Ray Eames. This is skincare that can be left on the counter and gives that sense of sophisticated personified fun that Eames designs are known for.” Anh’s project was featured on Lovely Package.
