Many of us know Tom Sieu as an instructor for the School of Graphic Design, but like many of our instructors, he is also a working professional. His latest work on Sephora’s holiday campaign is simply amazing.

As design director for Sephora’s Animations Group, Tom brings a connection from the real world into the classroom, which is vital to the learning experience at the School of Graphic Design. Working with the concept “I’m dreaming of…” Tom Sieu and his design team created a holiday retail display entirely from paper.

According to Felt & Wire, Sieu and his time worked with eight paper artists and five vendors to create 36,289 paper flowers and snowflakes, paper trees and portraits, and countless other paper elements to be used in holiday displays in more than 300 Sephora stores for the 2011 season, including the flagship store in New York City (above). Check out the video below to see Tom speak about the inspiration and process.
